To leave the land I lived and loved
Is truly hard enough
For Rohan's fields and pastures green
And its warriors stout and lean
Are sights that should be seen
But as a captain true and proud
I proclaimed aloud
That there was much of Middle Earth to see
From mountains tall, to forest tree
And Bert appeared to follow me
My own company is something I enjoy
And Bert's attention does annoy
But I do like people, that is true
And credit where credit is due
Bert often joins in fighting too
He battles strongly by my side
When most I think would hide
And at my beck and call
He charges off to war
But one foes enough I'm sure!
Just one? Not Bert - he pulls a few
But credit where it is due
Even if I run away
At the battleground he'll stay
Whilst I live to fight another day
Is it love he feels for me?
Well I guess maybe
But of music he is not a fan
Which gave me a cunning plan
I saw the bard, and its true Bert ran!
I could just get upon my steed
But in truth Bert I need
And such a man I would not hurt
And soon I would no doubt blurt
That I LIKE being followed by Bert
